Moon of Spirit Born

This painting draws it name from e.e. cummings who wrote, “Yours is the light by which my spirit’s born: – you are my sun, my moon, and all my stars.” A moon painting to celebrate the birth of summer blossoms, a season of growth and renewal. I finished it in the bright days leading to the May full moon, known as the Flower Moon (a Super Moon this year). The painting is the shape of an heirloom rose made of thick stone texture, embedded grain and layers of paint, rust, ash and a glaze of beautiful Osborne County prairie quartz. The rust symbolizes fleeting time and the quartz stands for love.
